FINGER LAKES METAL FEST 2012!

October and January.

FLMF VII will take place on May 19, 2012 at DONSELAARS PARTY HOUSE in Clyde, NY.
2 stages, 20 bands! Both stages will be indoors.

This year we had some of the best sounding bands we have ever had submit for FLMF! After reviewing bands, for the first time ever, we had something like 30 bands who received unanimous votes from the reviewing team! Unfortunately, we only have enough time to have twenty bands perform at this event. So choosing which bands to invite was not such an easy task. So we had to look beyond votes and start looking at other notable features and factors. Some bands made it a little easier on us as they didn’t respond to their invitations by the deadline that was given, which opened the door for other bands.
Since announcing the line up of selected bands, we have received a few inevitable massages from bands who didn’t get selected. Including some that didn’t even submit! If a band doesn’t submit, they don’t get considered. It’s that simple. How would we even know you want in if you don’t submit? Even while we were taking band submissions we had bands ask us if they needed to submit even though we knew them, and we told them all that they need to submit to be considered, even if they felt they were a shoe-in.
If your band (or your favorite band) didn’t get selected, but DID submit, it’s nothing personal. We just simply don’t have enough slots to go around. That doesn’t mean that they won’t still end up playing at this event, as every year, we have bands that cancel out or are no-shows. If a band cancels, we will then offer their slot to the next band on the list that didn’t get selected in the first few rounds of invitations. Also, if a band that didn’t get selected shows up at the event anyway and we have a no show, they could get an impromptu invitation on the spot.
Bands who submitted this year, but didn’t get selected, have a greater chance of being selected for next year’s FLMF. Especially if they show up even though they weren’t selected this year. But they MUST submit! So, we hope to hear from them in the fall when we begin taking band submissions for FLMF 2013!

To submit for any future FLMF
Your band must be a metal band of some sort, with at least a half hour of original material.
You must submit at least one song in its entirety for review.

Before submitting your band, please make sure your band will be available ALL DAY on that date! Show starts at 2pm and runs until 2am. Whatever time slot you are given, your entire band must arrive for loading NO LATER THAN 90 MINUTES before your assigned time slot. This is VERY important! Your band must be flexible. If a band cancels last minute, or if we have a no show, you may be asked to go up earlier than planned. If any member of your band does not show up on time (90 minutes before scheduled set time), you may be cancelled on the spot.
-IF YOU CANT COMMIT, DONT SUBMIT-
Every year we get one or two bands that either dont like their time slot or have someone who cant make it at that time for one reason or another. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure each and every member of your band will be available for ANY time slot. Your band might be first, it might be last. Simply put, there will be 20 great bands at this show, someone has to play first and someone has to play last. When planning the schedule, we will consider no slot to be greater or lesser.
We expect plenty of bands to want to perform at this event. We would love to have every band that wants in to be able to play a set, but it will not be possible, due to time constraints, to have every band that wants in to perform. So we have a selection process, in which a team of reviewers will determine which bands will be invited to perform at this event.
Bands will be selected based on original material among other factors. We wish to have a variety of different styles of metal bands perform at this event. Ours should be unique and have something for all types of metal heads of all ages.
Participating bands will receive some perks, such as drink tickets, commemorative t-shirts with all the bands names or logos on them, camping and all around fun.
